About Mims Florida
Mims is a census-designated place in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,375 at the 2022 census. It is part of the Brevard County metropolitan area.
Mims is located at 28.6750°N 80.8236°W / 28.6750; -80.8236 (28.675075, -80.823645).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.2 km²), of which, 2.0 square miles (5.1 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (1.00%) is water.
Mims is located on the Indian River, northeast of Titusville. It is home to the Bracco Winery, one of the few wineries in Brevard County.
Mims was founded in 1854 by Elias Dummitt Mims, a cotton planter from Georgia. The community grew slowly until the arrival of the St. Johns and Indian River Railroad in 1885. This brought new residents and businesses to the area, and Mims soon became a thriving agricultural community.
Today, Mims is a quiet, rural community with a population of just over 1,700. While it is still home to a few farms and citrus groves, the majority of the town's residents now work in the nearby city of Titusville. Mims is a great place to raise a family, with its good schools and small-town atmosphere. It's also a great place to enjoy the Florida outdoors, with fishing, boating, and bird watching all available nearby.
